Playing love song on guitar 'is an ideal Valentine's gift'
Musicians who want to give their loved one a memorable present this Valentine's Day should dig out their acoustic guitar and play them a love song.
This is the advice of Gibson Lifestyle blog contributor Ellen Barnes, who said this is likely to be greatly appreciated by the recipient.
"I'm willing to bet that not only will she get goosebumps along her arms and tears in her eyes but that she'll also - literally - never forget that time when you played her a love song on your guitar," she said.
Ms Barnes explained recent research conducted at the University of California found music intensifies memories, meaning familiar tracks will lead to thoughts about a related person or place.
She gave suggestions of some good covers to perform, including Bob Dylan's Lay Lady Lay, Eric Clapton's Wonderful Tonight and Love Me Tender by Elvis Presley.
Other songs that could be considered include And I Love Her by The Beatles, The Rolling Stones' Wild Horses and Walking After You from the Foo Fighters.
Last week, fellow Gibson blog commentator Ted Drozdowski recommended Jeff Beck's Cause We've Ended As Lovers as a great instrumental song to listen to on Valentine's Day.
