PreSonus StudioLive Used on Alt-J Tour

Leeds based band, Alt-J recently completed their US tour and relied on their PreSonus StudioLive 24.4.2 to deliver their monitor mixes throughout.

Front of house engineer, Lance Reynolds, had been interetsed in checking out what the StudioLive gear could do for a while and this tour presented the ideal opportunity.

"I was really attracted to the layout of the StudioLive," says Reynolds. "The input gain, the channel faders, and the master output are always right there in front of you - no page flipping or knob sharing to access the essential controls. In talking about it with the band, everyone agreed that the 24.4.2 seemed like a good fit for monitors. It had everything we needed in a nice, compact footprint."

Amongst the favourite features of the StudioLive which led to it being chosen were the snapshot recall, its ability to generate several stereo mixes, the onboard DSP, the ability to multitrack and Capture which enables the sound tech to record a soundcheck and immediatley play the mix back to the band.

Monitor Engineer, Ron Sharpless, comments, "Especially for a club tour, or a tour like this where a band's doing a mix of clubs and mid-sized venues, it's really the perfect console. For a desk this size, at this price point, the amount of power and features it offers is just amazing."

The Presonus StudioLive 24.4.2 is in stock now at Gear4music.com and, until the end of May 2013, comes with a free PRM1 mic which ensures you can make the most of the Smaart Room analysis feature.
