Professor Green has praised Lily Allen for supporting him on his rise to fame.

The British rapper has become firm friends with the pop star over the past few months, after Lily agreed to feature on his new track 'Just Be Good to Green', and he admits their recent rendition of the song at London's Wireless festival was the "maddest day" of his life.

He said: "She couldn't be around for my set at Glastonbury, but we did the Wireless festival in London this month, which was phenomenal. It was nuts. It was the first time we had performed 'Just Be Good to Green' together live. It was the maddest day of my life."

The 26-year-old newcomer and Lily, 25, first got in touch after they were introduced on social networking site Facebook by mutual friends.

After chatting online, Lily revealed 90s hit 'Dub Be Good to Me', by Beats International, was her "favourite song ever", and he persuaded her to collaborate with him on his reworking of the track.

Green - real name Stephen Manderson - explained to The Sun newspaper: "Some of my friends who used to play for The Streets knew Lily and introduced us. I added her on Facebook, she popped up one day and we started talking. Later on we were talking about music and I mentioned the track 'Dub Be Good to Me' and she was like, 'What? That's my favourite song ever.'

"She's been incredible to me. There are very few people I have met in this industry that I count as real friends. And with her it's definitely reached that."

Green performed a secret gig at London's University of London Union (ULU) last night (13.07.10) for Budweiser, to promote their Designate a Driver campaign.

He kicked off the show with 'Kids', before following the track up with 'Just Be Good to Green' and finishing the set with crowd-pleaser 'Need You Tonight'.
