Public offer charity pianos in place of damaged on
The public has shown their community spirit by responding to the senseless vandalism of one of the pianos that has been placed around Musser Park in Lancaster for a fundraising event by offering a charity replacement ones.
Big Brothers Big Sisters, a charity that offers mentoring programmes to young people, had placed the pianos around the area in preparation of its fundraising event known as the Lancaster Keys for the City, reported Lancaster Online.
However, last month it found that one of its pianos had been heavily damaged in an unprovoked act that left organisers speechless.
Speaking to the online news provider, Jennifer Radar, events and communications manager for Big Brothers Big Sisters, said: "There was a lot of sadness after what happened to the piano.
"The extent of the damage was senseless. If only the individuals who did this had a big brother or big sister, maybe the vandals wouldn't have done what they did."
Elsewhere, a local Carlsbad resident's proposal to set up a public piano at the local train station might see the light of day.
Don Christiansen has put the idea to officials at the North County Transit District (NCTD), which operates the train station.
