Public piano open to all

A shop has placed a piano under Machynlleth's town clock in Wales, which is free for anyone to play.

Phil Wheeler, a member of the Mach Fringe Festival came up with the idea after his son had recounted his amazement at the fact that in Bath there were "pianos everywhere", reported the BBC.

In 2010, the city had placed ten pianos around public spots for passers-by to engage with, as part of Bath's international music festival.

The idea stuck with Mr Wheeler and after much consideration, he went ahead with the idea.

One councillor has described it as a fun idea, which could prove to be very innovative.

"I want people to see it and think, 'Let me have a go and have a tinkle' or for kids in the town to have a go. I see this as a positive thing," he explained to the BBC.

The council are now conducting a survey to see what kind of response the piano has with locals.
