Quieter piezo pickup 'main change' for Gibson Dark Fire

The biggest difference between the next Gibson Dark Fire model and the current one is that the sound created from the new version's piezo pickup is "much quieter", according to one man working on the project.

Craig Anderton discussed the new prototype guitar on the Gibson website and claimed the whole thing has better electronics, which has led him to rework all of the signature hex patches.

Commenting on how the piezo sound links in with these patches, he remarked: "In terms of sound programming, it gives a lot more latitude on the hex patches as it's possible to use tons of distortion without having an overly noisy sound."

The Gibson Dark Fire launched in December and was one of the main attractions at the Namm show two months later.

Gibson boasts that the music instrument is the "world's most powerful guitar", with technology so advanced that it will transform the industry forever.
