Radiohead star 'enjoyed composing for We Need to Talk About Kevin'
Radiohead star Jonny Greenwood has said he enjoyed working with new musical instruments as he composed the score to upcoming film We Need to Talk About Kevin.
Speaking to BBC 6 Music, the electric guitar player explained he is proud of the movie, which has been directed by Lynne Ramsey and is based on the novel of the same name by Lionel Shriver.
"It's an amazing film she has made, a serious subject matter, but a good chance to play with new instruments," Greenwood said.
"We used this harpist called Jean Kelly, who plays harp strung with metal strings, so it sounds like nothing you have heard, wonderful."
The movie, which is currently in post-production, tells the story of a mother - played by Tilda Swinton - whose child goes on a murderous rampage.
Greenwood has previous experience with film scores, winning an Ivor Novello award for his work on There Will Be Blood.
Radiohead recently surprised their fans by releasing The King of Limbs as a digital download.
A special "newspaper album" version of the LP is to be shipped on May 9th, with the package comprising of a CD, two vinyl records and a host of related artwork.
