Rare electric guitar stolen from George Clinton's tour bus
A rare once-in-a-lifetime electric guitar worth $5,000 (£3,050) has been stolen from the tour bus of George Clinton and his P-Funk band.
The theft occurred while the band were playing their funky music gig at the Soul Food Festival at Shelby Farms.
A bespoke guitar, it has a unique design and is branded with the name XOX Audio Tools.
Mickey Keaton, a detective with the Shelby County Sheriff's Department, told reporters: "The band was cleaning up from the gig. She [one of the bandmates] got on the bus, asked where her guitar was and nobody knew."
The theft of the electric guitar is now under investigation and it is still unclear whether the bus was broken into or whether it had been inadvertently left open.
Clinton, 70, who is known for his trademark flamboyant multicoloured haircuts and wild fashion sense, is seen as one of the greatest funk music innovators the world has ever known.
Along with Sly Stone and James Brown, Clinton has been a pioneer of the music genre.
He is known for his work with the bands Parliament and Funkadelic, which were extremely popular during the late 70s and early 80s.
