Ray Davies in studio with Kinks colleagues
The man who hit the drum kit on classic Kinks hits such as Waterloo Sunset has been back in the studio with the band's frontman Ray Davies.
Speaking to Billboard.com, Davies revealed that he has been recording with a number of former Kinks members in recent months, including original drummer Mick Avory.
"There is definitely an interplay between the way Mick plays drums and my vocals," he commented.
"Mick feels the songs, so there's a definite continuity there that you wouldn't get with any other player."
Ray confirmed that he is also considering recording with his brother and The Kinks' former electric guitar player Dave Davies.
However, he said Dave was seriously ill quite recently, which means any collaboration depends on whether he is physically able to perform.
The Kinks first rose to prominence in the 1960s, scoring hits such as Days, Lola, You Really Got Me, Sunny Afternoon and Dead End Street.Posted on 10 Nov 2009 16:00 to category : Band / Celebrity News
