Regina Spektor talks musical 'references'
Posted on 13 Sep 2012 16:45 to category : Band / Celebrity News
In a Billboard Tastemakers chat, the Fidelity songstress talked about how she loves the way that musical and literary pieces use references.
"It almost feels like a collage - the way to just use something as a colour and throw it in there (and it's not yours) but it's a simultaneous homage and it's part of your own work," she said.
As the article explains, well-known number Don't Be Misunderstood gets a mention on her most recent LP, What We Saw From The Cheap Seats.
"I'm just a soul whose intentions are good. Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood," is the line referenced by the songstress in this instance, within the song Oh Marcello.
Spektor's previous albums include Begin to Hope (featuring tracks Better and Summer In The City) and Far (which includes the likes of Two Birds and The Calculation).
