Rilo Kiley announce that they are breaking up
Rilo Kiley have announced that they have broken up as fans come to terms with the devastating news.
Blake Sennett, who played acoustic guitar for the indie-rock band, revealed that the band had found it hard to work together and trust each other as musicians.
Speaking to Spinner, Sennett said that the band, who were thought to have been on a long break, had no plans of getting back together.
Following the release of their 2007 album Under the Blacklight and an extensive tour, the band decided to take a break and pursue solo projects.
This included lead singer Jenny Lewis working as part of Jenny and Jonny – with her partner the musician Jonathan Rice – and Sennett working as part of The Elected.
Speaking to the online news provider, Sennett said: "I just felt like there was a lot of deception, disloyalty, greed and things I don't really want to submit myself to.
"I had related that frustration to music but I just thought, 'I'm not going to put myself in that position again.'"
The band came together in 1998 and released a total of 13 albums, but, describing it as a failing relationship; he explained that it was no longer the same band that had first come together. They had all changed.
