Ringo Starr gets some drumming tips
You might think the man behind the drum kit in The Beatles would have no need for music lessons but Ringo Starr has been picking up some tips from Indian musician Tina Sugandh.
However, she was giving him lessons on the tabala rather than a normal drum kit.
The multi-talented Sugandh, who also plays the guitar, as well as being an actress and a dancer, told the Manhattan Local Music Examiner that it was an honour to meet the Beatles legend.
"Ringo is so gracious and kind, charming and hysterical, and really is a star - no pun intended," she said.
The pair met through mutual friend Dave Stewart and Sugundh now appears on Starr's new album, Y Not, playing the tabla drum on Peace Dream.
Earlier this month, Starr said that he preferred having a band around him when playing a drum kit.
He told USA Today: "I need to bounce off a bass player, a guitarist, the piano player."Posted on 27 Jan 2010 16:52 to category : Instruments News
