Ringo Starr set to receive Hollywood Walk of Fame star
Ringo Starr, the man behind the drum kit in The Beatles, is to be honoured on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The ceremony, which will see him receive a star close to those of his former bandmates John Lennon and George Harrison, is set to take place tonight (February 8th 2010) in Los Angeles.
It is to be broadcast live on the internet on the day that marks the 50th anniversary of the inauguration of the Walk of Fame.
Once the drummer's star is laid, it will mean that Sir Paul McCartney is the only member of The Beatles not to have been honoured there.
Last month, Starr, who recently released new solo album Y Not, admitted that he doesn't like to practise on the drum kit when he is on his own.
He told USA Today: "I need melody.
"I need to bounce off a bass player, a guitarist, the piano player."Posted on 8 Feb 2010 22:00 to category : Band / Celebrity News
