Rising stars sign up to HMV music festival
Aspiring electric guitar players, drummers and bassists are being given a new chance to showcase their talents by music retailer HMV.
The company is working with MAMA Festivals to stage the Next Big Thing event in London next month, which will provide a wider platform for emerging artists.
Organisers hope the London-based festival will go on to become a national event and a key fixture in the annual music industry calendar.
Marina and the Diamonds, who came second in the BBC Sound of 2010 list, are among the acts taking part.
Singer Marina Diamondis said: "It's great for the artist, as it provides a platform to perform to a new range of fans who will have never heard of them before."
She stated that HMV have provided a "brilliant way" for music fans to see artists who could be on the verge of "something great".
Marina recently told BBC News that she plans to release six-track EPs rather than standard albums in order to keep up a constant flow of new music.Posted on 12 Jan 2010 14:15 to category : Music News
