Rode Announce Details On New Stereo Video Mic and Accessories

Rode Mic
Rode Mic
Rode's new Stereo VideoMic Pro provides a high quality stereo option for to record high quality transient audio. Adept at recording ambience and atmospheric sounds it accentuates the crucial components for building a realistic audio scene.

Primarily based around all the new capsule, its matched pair of high sensitivity 1/2 cardioid condensers in a coincident XY pair, the Stereo VideoMic Pro provides a wide stereo image with a natural depth.

The microphone diminishes any external interference through its integrated Rycote Lyre based shock mount system that effectively separates the Stereo VideoMic Pro capsule and electronics from its mount isolating the microphone. This feature ensures that any rumbles or vibrations are not picked up during the recording process.

The Stereo Video MIC has a frequency range of 40Hz-20kHz and an output impedance of 200Ω. It is ideally suited to being paired with either a DSLR, consumer camcorder or a large-sensor video camera. The rear of the microphone body features the power and equalization controls, including a high pass filter at 75Hz which is designed to reduce noise generated by air conditioning, traffic and other undesirable low frequency interference. The microphone is also great at recording live sporting events, live music and loud sounds due to the user’s ability to arbitrarily select its sensitivity from a -10dB PAD.

Also being released from Rode are the SM3-R, SM4, PG2-R, and PG2-R Pro Cable. The SM3-R is the newer and more robust version of the previous SM3-R. The perfect shockmount for those who want to attach a mic to the camera, both the SM3-R and SM4-R utilise the Rycote Lyre mounts to ensure maximum isolation from any handling noise.

The PG2 is equipped with dual mounts and newly designed lightweight handles that promise improvements in both ergonomics and functionality. To further assist in the reduction of handling noise, Rode have designed the PG2-R Pro Cable that is compatible with all three products in this new range.
