Ronnie Wood re-educates Keith
Ronnie Wood has to teach Keith Richards how to play his own songs.
The Rolling Stones rhythm guitarist - who joined the band in 1976, 14 years after they were formed - said he still has to show lead player Keith how many of the songs which he wrote are played.
He said: "I even know most of the songs better than Keith does. He asks me what the chords are. I'll show him how to play one of his own songs and he'll say, 'Can you just take me through that again?'
"He has a phrase, 'Just because I wrote it, doesn't mean I know it."
Ronnie - who was the band's third rhythm guitarist after Brian Jones, who mysteriously drowned in a swimming pool in 1969 shortly after leaving the band, and Mick Taylor who resigned from the band in 1974 - also said he always knew he'd be in the band from the first time he saw them.
He added: "I always knew, even when I was at school that I was going to be in The Stones. I saw them at the Richmond Jazz and Blues Festival and I was the last one out of the tent. I knew then that this was the band for me."
Prior to his career with The Rolling Stones, Ronnie played in The Jeff Beck group and was a founding member of Faces with Rod Stewart.
Ronnie's latest solo album, 'I Feel Like Playing', is released on Monday (27.09.10)Posted on 24 Sep 2010 16:30 to category : Music News
