Roy Orbison 'wrote Pretty Woman on Epiphone acoustic guitar'
According to the instrument manufacturer, not many people know the story behind the legendary singer's most famous hit, which was released in 1964.
For instance, it stated that most music fans are unaware that he used a 12-string Epiphone acoustic guitar to compose the song.
The company added that more than two decades after Orbison's death, Pretty Woman remains his signature song.
This, it said, is despite the fact that it does not showcase his impressive voice to the same extent as other hits such as Only the Lonely.
Orbison went on to enjoy success with musicians such as George Harrison and Bob Dylan in the Traveling Wilburys, who were this week hailed by Gibson as the best classic rock supergroup of all time.Posted on 10 Dec 2009 20:00 to category : Instruments News
