School gets music instruments gift
Lions and lioness clubs banded together to pay for 20 new musical instruments for Caradoc Public School, which had started up an instrumental programme four years, reported the London Free Press.
It was a welcome gift as the school runs on a tight budget. Had it considered purchasing new musical instruments out of its fund, it would have had to have cut down on other essentials like gym equipment and stationary.
"This is an unheard-of donation from a community group. I consider myself and my students very lucky," principal Ron Van Belois told the news provider.
Students will benefit from a wide range of brand new, sparkling instruments, including trombones, baritones, saxophones, clarinets, trumpets and French horns.
"One day (Lions Club president) Ron Madill walks in and says, 'we have a plan. We do a lot for the area and we'd like to buy you some musical instruments,'" Mr Belois said.
Alicia Keys recently returned to her old school and donated musical instruments.
