Shure Announces Expansion to Beta Microphone Range
Shure Beta microphones have been the choice of leading recording and touring artists for over two decades.
The Beta range is renowned for its suitability to drum and instrument applications capturing fine details across acoustic environments.
The three new models are are the Beta 181 side address condenser; the Beta 98AMP/C miniature cardioid drum mic with integrated preamp; the Beta 91A, a descendent of the SM91 boundary mic.
Famous FOH engineer Roger Lindsay spoke about the Beta 181, commenting that it provides a "full, rich, well-defined sound in a microphone that goes where many others can't...impeccable performance."
The Beta 181 is suitable for a huge variety of acoustic and amplified instruments, providing interchangeable capsules for a variety of polar patterns.
Roger Lindsay has mixed for artists as diverse as James Taylor, Price and Van Morisson and is currently working with The Pretenders.
"While trying the new Beta 98A prototypes on the last US tour, I was delighted to discover that Shure has managed to retain the essential character of the original SM98."
Precision engineered for a warm sound, the Beta 98A/C also comes as the AD/C incorporating a flexible gooseneck mount allowing for accurate placement on toms, snares and other percussive instruments.
The Beta 91A combines the intricate audio legacy of the SM91 with the punch of the Beta 91, especially for lower frequency instruments.Posted on 21 Dec 2010 16:53 to category : Instruments News
