Simon Fuller sues Fox over X Factor rights
They say bad press is good press and that could well be the case with the impending US version of the X Factor after Simon Fuller filed a breach of contract lawsuit against Fox over rights to the show.
Fuller, a one time pal of Simon Cowell, claims that Fox and FreemantleMedia have not honoured a contract that was signed in 2005.
The music mogul, who was last seen publicly at Wimbledon, says he is owed credits and monetary fees for the US version of the X Factor.
His spokesman said: "Mr Fuller has prudently attempted to settle this matter privately, but the other parties have refused to honour the original contract leaving him no other choice but to pursue legal action."
As-of-yet, Fox and Freemantle have not commented on the issue.
It's not the first time that Fuller has had "beef" with the X Factor. In 2005, he finally dropped a £100 million copyright suit against Cowell over the UK version of the show.
The matter was settled out of court and saw Fuller becoming a joint partner. It is believed he is after an "executive producer" credit, which will reap him fortunes if the show is a success.
