Sir Paul sings with Neil Young
Concertgoers attending Neil Young's gig at the Hard Rock Calling festival in London got a surprise when Sir Paul McCartney made an impromptu appearance.
Sir Paul, who played bass guitar in the Liverpool band, arrived just in time to sing the middle section of the track, which he had sung originally on the Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album.
A Day in the Life, which McCartney co-wrote with John Lennon, is widely hailed as one of the most innovative of all The Beatles' recordings.
However, he had never played it live in concert until 2008, when he performed it a special stadium gig in Liverpool.
The song has been in Young's setlist for some years and is frequently used as the final song of the show.
Fans at the gig also got to enjoy other classics including Rockin' in the Free World, Hey Hey My My and Spirit Road.Posted on 29 Jun 2009 11:33 to category : Band / Celebrity News
