Slipknot to mark comeback with Sonisphere gig
Slipknot are to return to the live arena next summer and have been confirmed as the first headline act for the Sonisphere Festival 2011.
The band will play the bash as part of a tour of Europe that will mark their first gigs since the death of bass guitar player Paul Gray, who passed away earlier this year.
A statement from the metal band explained they are viewing the upcoming shows as a chance to celebrate the life and legacy of Gray with their fans. Sonisphere organisers claim the band's appearance at the festival will be their only live show in the UK.
The festival is scheduled to take place between July 8th and 10th at Knebworth House and more acts are due to be announced in the early part of next week. Last year's event saw fans rock out to performances from the likes of Iron Maiden, Rammstein and Alice Cooper.
