Speech by Springsteen
The Born to Run and The River singer was appearing at a conference, South by Southwest.
As he spoke in the USA (where he was famously 'born'), he said that both 'doubt' and 'confidence', 'worry' and calm were necessary attributes for 'young musicians'.
"Don't take yourselves too seriously and take yourself as seriously as death itself," he told those in the Texas crowd.
References to The Beatles, Roy Orbison and Elvis, among others, all came up. He was seen to play a guitar, during the talk, in a move more akin to his rock star day job.
Springsteen has had UK hits including Streets of Philadelphia and Dancing in the Dark. Meanwhile his albums include Tunnel of Love, Born in the USA and Lucky Town.
