Spotify and Facebook partnership 'looks likely'
Spotify is rumoured to be joining forces with Facebook to launch a new music streaming service.
According to Forbes, the online music software company will appear as an integrated service within the social networking site Facebook.
Spotify would be located on the left side of a user's newsfeed, making it easy to access the company's massive library of music. Like photos and events, it would be another way for people to share things.
Speaking to Forbes, a Spotify spokesperson said: "We have a Facebook integration. We’re continuously working with them to make that as good as it can be. But that’s the extent of our relationship."
This is another example of Facebook branching out of from its original concept of social networking, and like Google, becoming a multifaceted media company.
As a hub of multimedia activity, the future could see the company steam movies to it users through its pages.
It was recently revealed that Apple was also moving into online music streaming. Where Google and Amazon have failed to persuade big record labels to sign up, Apple has secured major deals with EMI and Warner Music, with deals with Universal Music and Sony Music near completion.
