Spotify targets new users with six months of free music
People new to Spotify will be able to enjoy unlimited access to an extensive catalogue of music during the first six months of signing up, after which the limit will come back in force.
The online music software provider has stirred up some heated debate over its partnership with Facebook as users are required to join the social media website if they want to listen to music through Spotify.
Daniel Ek, co-founder and chief executive officer of Spotify, tweeted: "We want to remove barrier [sic] to sign-up and create a more seamless experience. As we think our users are social.
"We'll try lots of things, and probably screw up from time to time, but we value feedback and will make changes based on it."
A new survey by Mediavision has revealed that two in five Swedes are planning on leaving Spotify in favour of other alternatives.
