Status Quo named UK's hardest working band
Fender Telecaster-toting rockers Status Quo have been named as the hardest-working band in the UK.
According to the Performing Rights Society (PRS), the veteran band have played to over 250,000 people at 27 arenas this year.
This puts them at the top of this chart for the second year in succession and ahead of other big names including Coldplay and Take That.
Ellis Rich, chairman of the PRS, said he is "delighted" to see Status Quo heading the list, as they are "giants" of live music.
Francis Rossi, Quo's frontman and electric guitar player, added: "Performing in front of thousands of fans is the ultimate experience for any band."
Status Quo first rose to prominence in 1968 with hits such as Pictures of Matchstick Men and Ice in the Sun.
The band have since notched up over 60 hit singles - more than any other band - such as Down Down, Mean Girl, In My Chair and Mystery Song.Posted on 29 Dec 2009 13:00 to category : Band / Celebrity News
