Stephen Fry tweets about a guitarist
Jon Gomm, who describes himself as an acoustic singer-songwriter with "an incredible virtuoso guitar style", has seen his online profile increase exponentially following Fry's mention of him.
The actor and TV presenter simply wrote the word wow with a YouTube link to a video where Mr Gomm is on stage performing his track Passionflower.
It has since been viewed over one million times with comments like "This guy has more talent in the end of his little finger than Justin Bieber has in his entire body" reflective of how the guitarist's skills have piqued the interest of the general public.
"My previous life - of driving from my home in Leeds to Vienna to play a concert - has suddenly changed dramatically," he told the Telegraph.
"So far I've been invited onto national TV in Turkey, Portugal and Holland and this year, will be touring in around 15 countries on three continents, and my CDs will be finding their way into stores from Germany to Japan."
He added that it's been a wild time, but even in spite of this newfound fame, he said he already felt lucky enough to be making a living as a musician.
