Steve Vai planning to lead largest-ever online guitar tutorial
Steve Vai is hoping to unite musicians around the world by getting them to take part in the largest-ever online guitar tutorial next month.
The star will lead the lesson on the Berkleemusic website on March 3rd, with organisers hopeful of a Guinness World Record in the process.
Under the plans for the free 30-minute tutorial, the electric guitar player will focus on ways technique can be developed and musicians can gain insights into their own playing style.
Dave Kusek, chief executive officer of Berkleemusic, said his company was looking forward to working with one of the world's most prominent musicians on the attempt.
"We're thrilled and honoured to partner with Steve for this unique online guitar lesson and excited to play a part in exposing a record-setting number of guitarists from around the world to his 'otherworldly' techniques," he stated.
Vai himself encouraged electric guitar players to participate in the event, stating he is looking to unite musicians from Boston to Bombay and Brussels.
The musician is currently asking his fans to decide where his world tour should visit later this year, with visitors to his website able to nominate which cities they want him to play in.
