Sting named as one of the worst rock star actors
Sting's acting career has been criticised by the Independent, which has named him as one of the ten worst rock star-turned actors.
For instance, his appearance in 1980s science fiction film Dune was described as a "low point in a particularly gloomy acting career".
However, it conceded that Sting's appearance in The Who's Quadrophenia several years earlier "wasn't actually too bad".
But The Who's frontman Roger Daltrey did not escape criticism, with the Independent accusing him of committing numerous and significant "crimes against film".
The newspaper described his movie career as "decidedly unglittering", with the "absurd" 1996 flick Vampirella singled out for ridicule.
Rock stars from across the Atlantic, such as Jon Bon Jovi, were also condemned for their efforts to tread the boards.
"His music is inexcusable; his acting even worse," the Independent observed.Posted on 26 Jun 2009 11:43 to category : Band / Celebrity News
