Student gifted with violin after heartbreak
Ashleigh Burrow, who is a budding musician, was distraught to find that her prized possession had been recklessly destroyed.
It was even more heartbreaking as it had been a gift from her granddad and had sentimental value.
The Wichita Eagle reported that her mum Audrey, distraught over the incident and the fact that it would hamper her opportunity to play at an upcoming concert, emailed B98-FM, a local radio station.
Radio presenter Tracy Cassidy read out the email, in which Ashleigh's mum pleaded with the public to let her know if they had a violin available for sale at a reasonable price.
Simon McHugh, a local artisan who repairs stringed instruments was one of the listeners who heard about the story. He gathered a German violin, complete with bow and case and delivered it to the school.
The news provider reported that he added a handwritten note as well, which read: "Always remember there's more good than bad in the world."
In related news a rare violin crafted by Nicole Amati is to be sold at auction next month.
