Take That announce mammoth tour

Take That have confirmed plans for a reunion tour with Robbie Williams, during which the 'Angels' hitmaker will also perform a solo set.

Robbie Williams will perform a solo set on Take That's new tour.

The 'Angels' hitmaker has reformed with his former bandmates for their first shows as a five-piece since 1995, but the group - who reformed as a four-piece in 2005, nine years after splitting - are also planning to perform without the singer during the concerts.

Explaining the structure of their 'Progress Live' shows, which kick-off on May 30 in Sunderland, North East England, Robbie said: "There's going to be a bit for everybody. I'm going to be doing a bit, the lads are going to be doing a bit then we're all going to be doing a bit."

Gary Barlow added: "Some fans might be coming just to see Rob, some fans might be coming to see the four of us, some fans will be coming to see the five of us. On this night they'll get to see us all doing our individual bits."

Robbie also hit back at critics who claim he has only rejoined the band - also comprising of Mark Owen, Howard Donald and Jason Orange - because his solo career has faltered in recent years.

Answering a question at a press conference to announce the concerts at London's Savoy Hotel today (26.10.10), he said: "Greatest hits album number one in 14 countries, last album sold more than 'The Circus' so at the risk of sounding like a sourpuss, f**k off."

Asked what he would say to those who would say Take That were doing well without him, he added: "I'll see you on Monday May 30 at the Stadium of Light in Sunderland."

Despite Robbie's claim, the singer's last studio album, 'Reality Killed The Video Star' sold around 0.9 million units in the UK, while Take That's 'The Circus' clocked up sales of over 2.1 million copies.

'Progress Live 2011' is billed as a "feast for the imagination, charting the evolution and progress of Take That and Robbie Williams through their extraordinary 20-year history".

Tickets for the UK leg of 'Progress Live' - priced between £55 and £95 - go on sale on Friday October 29, with European dates on sale a week later.
