Teenager lands himself a Stradivarius
Stephane Tetreault has been lent a Stradivarius cello known as the Countess of Stainlein by a woman describing herself as a "patron of the arts".
The instrument was acquired from the anonymous figure last week at an auction for a whopping $6 million (approximately £3.84 million).
What is certain is that she wanted Mr Tetreault, said to be a wonder kid on the cello, to make the most of the rare and expensive instrument.
The Montreal Gazette reported that the cello has had a brilliant history of ownership.
It was played by Vincenzo Merighi, a cellist from the 19th century orchestra La Scala, before moving onto the virtuoso violinist Niccolo Paganini.
Following on from him it came into the possession of Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume, a respected French luthier, and in the 20th century was owned by Bernard Greenhouse.
"I am immensely touched and humbled to have been chosen to play an instrument that was cherished for so many years by Bernard Greenhouse, who has always had my great respect and admiration," Tetreault told the online news provider.
In November the Fort Worth Symphony celebrated adding a second Stradivarius to their collection of musical instruments.
