Tennis Match Data Turned Into Music By James Murphy

Musician James Murphy, formerly of LCD Soundsystem, has had a lot of free time since the band ended in 2011.

His latest project sees him team up with IBM to create music from US Open tennis matches using an algorithm to make the sounds from data about serves, faults and points.

Information from all the matches will create over 400 hours of music as the tournament goes on.

After all the data has been gathered, James will be creating 14 exclusive tracks remixed form his favourites.

You can listen to the matches on the US Open Sessions site and even stream them live. The colourful graphics look pretty good, too.
