The Charlatans drummer describes collapse
The Charlatans drummer Jon Brookes has written about his onstage collapse last month.
The rocker was diagnosed with a brain tumour after he collapsed shortly after the 'One to Another' band had started their set at a show in Philadelphia, US.
He was immediately treated by a doctor who happened to be in the crowd for his seizure, before being hosapitalised in the US, and finally sent back to the UK for further treatment.
Writing of his ordeal on the band's official website, Jon said: "Strange feelings of floating quickly replaced by violent head movements engulfed me. Then I was approached by strangely familiar faces asking me what was wrong but, I couldn't speak, my mouth wired tight by lockjaw and panic spreading across my frozen body, the first seizure had begun and was in full affect."
Jon also sent out a message of thanks to all the fans who had supported him as he starts on the road to recovery.
He added: "I know that who we touch are touched indeed, and I will never be able to express my heartfelt thanks for all the love and light I received, from all of you who text me, sent me cards, made calls to me or passed on their support and best wishes that ultimately brought me back home, safe!"
The Charlatans cancelled their US tour, but have been playing European dates with replacement drummer Pete Salisbury, formerly of the Verve. The group will play in the UK this week.Posted on 4 Oct 2010 16:30 to category : Music News
