The Darkness: One of the worst bands of the 2000s
The Darkness were widely credited with bringing electric guitar-based rock into vogue in the early 2000s.
However, this does not mean that they have received universal acclaim, as Gigwise have this week named them as one of the worst bands of the 21st century.
"This band from Lowestoft pillaged the deepest atrocities of 80s hair metal," the website commented.
The Darkness were accused of regurgitating these crimes against music in hits such as Growing On Me and I Believe in a Thing Called Love.
Gigwise added that the "joke mock rockers" have "luckily" chosen to call it a day, although members of the band have since moved on to other projects.
The Darkness released two albums during their career, with debut album Permission to Land peaking at the top of the charts.Posted on 20 Oct 2009 16:00 to category : Band / Celebrity News
