The Drums reveal they were on the verge of splitting up
Hailing from New York, the band became on overnight sensation last year with their eponymous debut album.
Speaking to DirtyMusic.com, they revealed that the title of their next album will be Portmanteau.
This reflects the changes that very nearly destroyed what is seen as one of the most promising rock bands to have emerged from the US in recent times, with the potential to grow as big as the Kings of Leon.
Speaking to the online music provider, frontman Jonathan Pierce said that they faced many trials, which were brought on by the departure of Adam Kessler, who used to play guitar for the band.
Pierce said: "There were a lot of shouting matches. Two weeks ago, we came very close to splitting. But that has nourished the album, I think.
"We could not make another disc the same way, but ultimately, I have no regrets. I would not change anything, nothing at all."
UK fans of the Drums will be pleased to hear that the band will return to the UK this summer to play at the Lovebox festival and Bestival.
