The Drums start EU tour
The Drums kicked off their European tour in London last night (24.11.10).
The 'Me And The Moon' group played to a sold-out crowd in the city, which they return to for their biggest headlining shows to date.
The band's flamboyant lead singer, Jonathan Pierce, sashayed onstage in a varsity jacket before the group - with new touring guitarist Tom Haswell looking a comfortable addition to the band - launched into the opener of their self titled debut album, 'Best Friend'.
Although they remained fairly quiet between songs, Jonathan did address the crowd to give a number of thank you's.
The Drums' set included almost all the tracks from their debut, including fan favourite 'Let's Go Surfing' - which had been dropped from the band's set when they played at the Reading and Leeds festivals earlier this year - which received the biggest cheer of the night from the audience.
After the show a source close to the band told BANG Showbiz: "They looked so confident onstage and you can see they're riding high after a year which has really seen them explode, everyone in the house knew every word to 'Let's Go Surfing', it was incredible."
The group - which also includes guitarist Jacob Graham and drummer Connor Hanwick - ended with a finale of 'Skippin' Town' and 'Down By The Water', after which Connor pushed his drumkit over as the band left the stage.
Support for the show was provided by 'IO EO', Two Wounded Birds and Violens. The drums are on tour throughout Europe until December 17.Posted on 25 Nov 2010 16:15 to category : Music News
