The Killers to get Vanguard award
The Killers are to be honoured for their role in helping to change American music in a ceremony set to take place later this month.
The band, who made use of a Gibson ES-335 on their third album Day and Age, have been announced as the winners of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers' Vanguard award.
It is a prize given to acts judged to have helped to "shape the future of American music" and previous winners have included the Beastie Boys, Nine Inch Nails and The Strokes, reports the Gibson website.
The Killers will pick up the gong at the Pop Music Awards, which are taking place on April 21st 2010 in Los Angeles.
Last year, readers of Rolling Stone magazine voted the band's second record, Sam's Town, as the most underrated album of the past decade.
Their single Mr Brightside also came out top in a recent XFM poll of the best 1,000 songs ever written.Posted on 8 Apr 2010 09:19 to category : Band / Celebrity News
