The Pickering Pickup inventor Dies Aged 99
Norman invented an improved pickup system in 1945, which was the first modern phonograph cartridge and often referred to as 'the Pickering Cartridge' - a device used for the playback of records on a turntable or phonograph. Dramatically improving audio quality as a direct result of this device's implementation.
Norman Pickering was also a keen musician and played the French Horn. He initially wanted to be a violinist but a sports-related injury to his hand prevented him from continuing with this particular instrument.
His wife had confirmed that he had died from cancer, according to the New York times.
