The Prodigy's Maxim puts down microphone for paintbrush
The Prodigy's Maxim has temporarily swapped his microphone for a paintbrush as he prepares to launch his first ever art exhibition in September at the I.N.C Space in Covent Garden, London.
Entitled Lepidop Terror, Maxim, or to call him by his artistic moniker, MM, has produced a number of large-scale paintings that are said to be a sensory and immersive experience.
The image of a butterfly is prevalent in a lot of his work, which is a significant and powerful symbol.
The colourful insect is traditionally seen as a metaphor for life, death, rebirth and reincarnation.
In fact, MM's use of the butterfly is not new.
It has been widely used by artists like Salvador Dali, who was known for producing dream-like panoramic landscapes, and Damien Hirst, a conceptual artist and member of the prominent group known as the Young British Artists (YBAs).
The exhibition will be curated in a "room within a room".
The Prodigy have been somewhat quiet as of late. Their last studio album, Invaders Must Die, was released in 2009.
That said, the band's frontman, Liam Howlett, recently revealed that after the band finishes supporting Linkin Park, they will return to the studio.
