The Saturdays go grime?
The Saturdays are to work with the 'Godfather of Grime' on a new track.
British MC Wiley - who is part of grime collective Roll Deep, and has been dubbed the 'Godfather of Grime' - said the all-girl pop band are scheduled to appear on the group's next single, which will follow up the bands' two UK number one hits, 'Good Times' and 'Green Light'.
Wiley said: "Roll Deep went with the two number ones, we've just put the vocals on the third, our producer Danny Weed made it again and I think we're getting The Saturdays to sing the chorus so we want to try and get that one hitting the top five in the charts again. Then we'll get ready for the album."
Wiley - who is also a successful solo artist in his own right, and gained his 'Godfather' title as a result of championing the grime genre over the last ten years - admitted he feels the title is a "heavy weight" on his shoulders.
He added to RWD magazine: "I've got to live and die for it, it's so sad because I don't even want to be that, but it's too late and I've been given it.
"People label me 'The Godfather' and they label James Brown what he is, it's a big weight on your shoulders.
"I do love it but I do envy how some things happen, like how someone else who is not godfather can just sail through to the top of the scene, like MC Chipmunk."
Roll Deep's third album 'Winner Stays On', is expected to be released before the end of the year.Posted on 15 Sep 2010 07:00 to category : Music News
