The Vaccines are looking to release a new EP following their recording stint in Los Angeles earlier in the year.

Speaking to NME, frontman Justin Young explained that they headed across the pond in March with "a few" new songs. They managed to lay down tracks for the record and it could be released in the near future.

He added that the sound and direction of the songs is a little different, which will no doubt have fans eager to hear what the quartet has come up with.

The Vaccines only released their second studio album, Come Of Age, in 2012 following on from their debut What Did You Expect from the Vaccines? which came out just 12 months before that.

Young told the news provider: "They feel like a bridge to something else so I guess they'll be an EP, but I guess there is a small chance they might be the start of album three, because I feel very creative at the moment."

The Vaccines are due to play a special show in Millennium Square in Leeds on Sunday (May 5th) as part of the Live At Leeds festival in the Yorkshire city.
