The xx and Mumford and Sons up for Brit Awards
Indie stars Mumford and Sons and electric guitar band The xx have both received three nominations for the Brit Awards 2011.
Both groups will go up against each other for prizes in the British Breakthrough Act, British Group and Mastercard British Album of the Year categories.
The artist with the most nominations this year is rapper Tinie Tempah, who has a chance of winning in four different categories, while urban soul singer Plan B also features in a trio of shortlists.
There is a greater rock feel to international nominations, with the best global group being fought out between Arcade Fire, Kings of Leon and Vampire Weekend, as well as The Script and Black Eyed Peas.
Meanwhile, electric guitar legend Bruce Springsteen is up for the International Male Solo Artist, where he will be battling competition from Cee Lo Green, Kanye West, Eminem and David Guetta.
The ceremony will be held at the O2 Arena in London on February 15th, with comic and actor James Corden given the role of presenting the show.
Corden said: "I have always loved The Brits and I am honoured to have been asked to host such a prestigious event."
