Tori Amos: My brother got me into rock music
Piano player Tori Amos has credited her brother with triggering her interest in rock music.
Speaking to the Guardian, she revealed that her father did not approve of this type of music and banned it from their family home.
However, her older brother Michael was a big fan and would often sneak records by artists such as Little Richard and The Rolling Stones into the house.
Amos said she enjoyed these records as well and would often enjoy hammering out the tunes on a piano.
She had started playing the piano at the age of two and got a scholarship to study music shortly after, but quit at the age of 11.
"That for me was the beginning," Amos commented.
She went on to enjoy a hugely successful career in the music industry, releasing 11 solo albums to date and notching up hit singles such as Professional Widow, Pretty Good Year and Bliss.Posted on 5 Jan 2010 19:00 to category : Band / Celebrity News
