Tributes paid to Gary Moore following early death
Tributes from the world of music have been paid to electric guitar player Gary Moore, following his death at the age of 58.
The former Thin Lizzy star passed away while on holiday in Spain and the likes of Sir Bob Geldof and former bandmate Scott Gorham have been among those to express their shock and sadness at his death, reports BBC News.
Stuart Baillie, who wrote the authorised biography of Thin Lizzy, explained the guitarist had been something of a prodigy on the instrument, becoming a semi-professional player in his early teens.
"The fact that he played with George Harrison and Bob Dylan and The Traveling Wilburys shows the kind of esteem he was held in by his peers," the writer added.
Sir Bob Geldof said Moore had been "one of the great Irish bluesmen", who was an exceptionally talented guitarist.
The official Facebook page of Thin Lizzy also expressed sadness at Moore's passing, with condolences paid to his family.
Thin Lizzy drummer Brian Downey used the social networking site to state he is in "total shock" at his friend's passing, having known the electric guitar player since 1967.
