Up and coming musical talent should be nurtured, says Yamaha

Electronic keyboard manufacturer Yamaha has reaffirmed its commitment to encouraging talented young people to learn to play music instruments.

br /> Mike Ketley, senior director at the company, said the UK has an enviable reputation across the world for producing fine musicians.

Indeed, he stated that some of Britain's output over the years has been of the "most outstanding creative quality".

Mr Ketley said this is partly because people in the UK are able to attend schools with vibrant music departments that are staffed by inspired teachers.

"Yamaha is absolutely passionate about supporting excellence within these organisations and our invaluable teachers who nurture, inspire and skill our best talent across all genres," he commented.

The company is already providing a series of scholarship programmes at various institutions across the UK in an attempt to tap into up and coming talent.

Mr Ketley's comments come shortly after rock star Sting told BBC News that it is "vitally important" that children are exposed to music and encouraged to play instruments at school.
