Vampire Weekend reveal details of new album
The band explained that their new release will bring together influences from the world of jazz as well as Bob Dylan and The Clash, providing something different from 2010's Contra.
Multi-instrumentalist Rostam Batmanglij told Uncut that during the making of Contra he was interested in the 80's New York sound but added that the upcoming record is something far deeper.
Batmanglij added: "The goal was to use organic sounds and put them in a context that you might not have heard before. It's certainly darker and grittier than Contra. A lot of these songs are about conflict. They're about the choices we can make, being able to do what we want with our lives."
Vampire Weekend experienced huge commercial success with the release of Contra, scoring number ones on both the US Billboard 200 and the US Billboard Independent Albums.
The record boasted tracks such as Cousins, Giving Up the Gun, White Sky and Holiday and earned gold status in the US, UK, Australia and Canada.
