Van Halen: Fender Wolfgang not just an endorsement
Eddie Van Halen has revealed that he puts a lot of work into developing guitars that bear his name and that they are not simply endorsements.
"I'm not a tyrant - it's just that my name and my son's name are on it," he explained when stating how he ensures that Fender keep a close eye on the people assembling the instruments. "I don't just endorse, I build it."
Van Halen also told the website that it was his dedication to wanting to get the most from an electric guitar that set him apart from Jimi Hendrix, who used a lot of effects.
Dubbed the Frankenstrat, the guitar that helped Van Halen make his name was built by his own hand.
He has used a number of other instruments over the years, however, including an Ibanez Destroyer.Posted on 17 Mar 2009 10:40 to category : Band / Celebrity News
