Vintage Fender pieces, including a K&F lap steel guitar, are on show at a new museum in Phoenix, Arizona.

The Musical Instrument Museum (MIM) opened its doors for the first time this Saturday 24th April revealing, amongst the 12,000 instruments acquired by the museum, a selection of Fender guitars and amplifiers.

MIM allows visitors to play and touch instruments from all over the world, with instruments covering all kinds of musical genres, from tribal to pop and folk.

Every country in the world is represented in the collection of instruments. Many of the pieces were selected for their connection to famous musicians, the prestige of their manufacturers or as examples of exceptionally crafted instruments.

Fender pieces on show include the Fender Steinway Model Z upright piano used by John Lennon in recording Imagine and Eric Clapton's Brownie 1956 Stratocasterguitar.

The grand opening featured 3,000 of the collected musical instruments the museum now has in its possession.
