Volunteer teachers urge people to donate brass instruments

Two volunteer teachers working in Fiji are asking people to donate brass musical instruments.
Great deals on musical instruments
Two compassionate volunteer teachers helping students in a school in Fiji have urged people to donate brass musical instruments to replace a collection of badly damaged ones.

Terry and Sue Metcalfe were astonished to find on their arrival at Natabua High School that the school's assortment of instruments were substandard, reported Cowr Community News.

Some of the brass instruments are so damaged that they are being held together by duct tape.

Mr Metcalfe said that new musical instruments and sheet music would drastically improve the students' capabilities, which at present are being limited by the limited range of the existing equipment.

It's an important cause as brass and marching bands are popular in the country.

"Not only does Natabua School have enthusiastic students who want to learn to play music, there is also a large local population who want to hear them play," Mr Metcalfe told the news provider.

A new scheme that aims to introduce young people to brass musical instruments at a school in West Yorkshire has been launched.

The Brass Kidz initiative will get to play with instruments loaned to them by Elland Silver Band.
